Arizona Senator Jeff Flake appeared to take a shot at Trump in a Sunday tweet
Just hours after President Trump posted a tweet attacking Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Doug Jones, a prominent Republican senator tweeted a rebuke of Trump and other Republicans who support Jones’ Republican rival for Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat, Roy Moore.
“After what we know, for Republicans to support Roy Moore over Doug Jones is political tribalism at its worst,” tweeted Arizona Senator Jeff Flake Sunday afternoon.

Multiple women have accused Moore of pursuing sexual relationships with them when he was in his 30s and they were in their teens. One woman says she was 14 when she alleges Moore molested her. Another woman says she was 16 when Moore tried to force her to perform oral sex on her.
Flake, who plans to retire in 2018, has been outspoken against Trump and his antics since Trump became the Republican nominee for president in 2016.
On Sunday morning, Trump tweeted that that Jones would be a “disaster.”
The last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY. Jones would be a disaster!

Because Moore is the only other candidate on the ballot, Trump’s tweet act as an implicit endorsement of a man that other Republican leaders have condemned.
Jones, who Trump called “WEAK on crime,” is most famous for successfully prosecuting the Ku Klux Klan for the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham nearly 40 years after klansmen killed four young black girls in that attack.
Alabama voters will decide who they will send to the U.S. Senate on December 12.
