The seemingly tongue-in-cheek comment came after his son told him he was “triggered”

Mississippi State Senator Chris McDaniel, a potential 2018 U.S. Senate candidate says he is “terrified” that his 6-year-old son might grow up to be a Harvard graduate.

“My 6-year-old just told me he was ‘triggered,'” McDaniel posted on his official Facebook page Thursday evening. “Wow. So he will either be a DNC member or a graduate of Harvard. Either way, I’m terrified.”

McDaniel – a Republican who has made it a habit to mock Democratic and liberal opponents as having been “triggered” when they push back against the right wing – is in the process of deciding whether to mount a bid for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican U.S. Senator Roger Wicker.

McDaniel has said that he will make a decision in January.
